Performing Poetry!

In our English lessons, Classes 6, 7 and 8 have been focusing on poetry! So far this week, we have listened to poetry, wrote our own verb poem and yesterday we practiced performing different types of poetry.

Children were asked to focus on their expression and bringing the poem to life!

Here are some pictures of the children performing poetry! They did a fantastic job.

Inside the tomb of Tutankhamun!

Classes 6,7 and 8 have started to learn about the Ancient Egyptians as part our their new topic! We started by looking at the life of Howard Carter and how he discovered the tomb of the famous Egyptian pharaoh, Tutankhamun!

The children were in for a real treat as over the Christmas holidays, the builders discovered a tomb right here in BLS! The children thoroughly enjoyed being able to enter the tomb and imagine what it must have felt like to have been Howard Carter, discovering Tutankhamun’s tomb nearly 100 years ago! Here are some pictures of the children’s discovery!

Another fantastic half-term!

Class 8 have enjoyed another fantastic half term! Thank you to everyone who came and watched our class assembly! The children worked very hard, creating stop motion videos, learning about dragons and even creating their own dragon shadow puppets.

As Science week draws to a close, here are some photos of the activities we have been doing.

During the week, we have researched a scientist. We researched the scientist Marie Curie. We then shared what we had found out with children from Class 4!

Also, we became engineers for the afternoon, investigating the best possible structure to build a sturdy tower, using just marshmallows and spaghetti! Lots of children discovered that building a structure made of up triangles was the best possible solution. At the end, we judged each tower and even enjoyed eating some of the marshmallows!

On Wednesday, Michael Jones from Animal Care visited Class 8 and even brought along his border collie Buddy!
